Rock Port traveled to Mound City, Missouri, last Friday, October 11, to take on the Panthers in their seventh game of the season.
The game started off with several flags called against the Blue Jays, but they were able to move past them as they put 46 points on the board to Mound City’s 16.
The Jays had a total of 403 combined yards against the Panthers. Leading the way for the Blue Jays was running back Brock Holmes, who had a total of 154 yards on offense, 103 rushing and 51 receiving. Brock found the end zone three times with one rushing touchdown and two receiving touchdowns. Quarterback Corbyn Jakub had two rushing touchdowns and Jack Meyerkorth had one rushing touchdown.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Jays held the Panthers to 154 total yards of offense and only allowed two touchdowns. Tayden Cook lead the way with seven tackles, followed by Ryder Herron, Corbyn Jakub, Brock Holmes, and Kendan Melton-Davis, all with six apiece.
The Jays move to 7 and 0 on the season and will face East Atchison on Friday night at Blue Jay Stadium. Senior night recognition will begin at 6:15 p.m.
