A devastating fire left a local couple’s barn and home and all possessions in ashes Wednesday, October 16, 2024. Emmett and Connie Windhorst lost everything when their barn caught fire and spread to their house at 301380 L Avenue near Fairfax, Missouri, only making it out with the clothes on their backs. Fairfax and Rock Port Volunteer Fire Departments responded and worked the scene for 12 to 14 hours. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

A fund has been set up at Citizens Bank & Trust in Rock Port for monetary donations. A GoFundMe account titled “Help Emmett and Connie Rebuild After Devastating House Fire” has also been created to help the Windhorsts. In these challenging times, any donation is greatly appreciated.
