• Clyde Lewis of Tarkio is a new mechanic at the Craven Implement Co. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis and their children have moved to a tenant house on the Ralph Seymour place north of town.
• Showing at The Tarkio Theatre: “Fighting Mad,” “This Is My Affair” with Barbara Stanwyck and Robert Taylor, “You’re My Everything” with Dan Dailey and Anne Baxter, and “The Bishop’s Wife” with Cary Grant and Loretta Young.
• In spite of the cold snap on Monday night, some 150 costumed children and adults turned out to compete in Tarkio’s annual Halloween observances on Main Street. A highlight of the event was the appearance of Tarkio High School’s Marching Band, led by Majorette Mary Elizabeth Collins, which marched down Main Street to play for the celebration.
• Funeral services for John Law were held Saturday at Davis Funeral Home in Tarkio. Mr. Law, 80, was born to John W. and Mary E. (Simpson) Law at Old Center Point on August 16, 1869. As a young man, he moved to Tarkio with his parents, where he lived the remainder of his life.

• Mr. and Mrs. Billy Adams of Watson, Missouri, will celebrate their 50th anniversary on Sunday, November 10, with a reception at the Watson Community Hall. Billy Adams and Tressa Smith were married November 15 in Rock Port and have lived all their married life in Watson.
• The high for the week was 68 degrees on the 1st and the low was 30 degrees on the 5th. The total precipitation for the week was 2.71 inches and precipitation of 3.80 inches was measured for the month of October.
• Ed Riley of Tarkio felled a buck, which was 172 pounds field dressed, October 31 near Hamburg, Iowa. This is the first kill for Riley with a bow and arrow and the distance was 25 yards.
• For the second year in a row, George Henry with Tarkio College finished first in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship with a fine time of 25:28 over the 5-mile course.
• The Tarkio College-Community Orchestra will present their fall concert November 10 in Leitch Chapel. The orchestra will perform “Overture to the Magic Flute” by Mozart and “Four Dances for Children” by Kodaly. The children’s dances will feature a rhythm group from Tarkio Elementary School under the direction of Mrs. Gary Cooper.

• Wennihan Welding and Feed has opened east of Tarkio. The business is owned and operated by Fred and Janet Wennihan and their boys, John and Allen.
• Funeral services here held Monday, November 1, at Davis Funeral Home for Donald Raymond Slemp of Tarkio. Donald, age 81, was born August 20, 1918, in Tarkio. During his youth, Don worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps camp. Later, he delivered milk for Moore’s Dairy, worked for the Westboro and Tarkio Elevators, was involved in the trucking industry, and farmed.
• Tarkio High School inducted 15 new National Honor Society members in a tapping ceremony held Tuesday, October 26. They were Karla Murphy, Andy Heck, Ashely Poptanycz, Rudy Koch, Beth Pearson, Rick Masonbrink, Jeremy Smith, Charity Tubbs, Tyler Rolofson, Casie Lesher, Tiffany Lee, Tasha Gibbons, Adam Rolf, Galadriel Gratton, and Tara Riley.
