In a highly anticipated matchup, Rock Port’s football team faced off against Platte Valley October 25, resulting in their first loss of the season. The game, held under the Friday night lights in Barnard, Missouri, was a thrilling contest that kept fans on the edge of their seats until the final whistle.

The first half of the game was where Rock Port offense was able to put 20 points on the board with a scoop and score by Kendan Melton-Davis on an onside attempt. Brock Holmes would find the endzone on a 14 yard running play giving Rock Port 12 points. In the final seconds of the first half, quarterback Corbyn Jakub would hit receiver Jack Meyerkorth on a 38 yard pass. Rock Port would go into halftime down 20-26.

The second half saw a defensive battle while both teams struggled to put points on the board. Platte Valley would find the end zone with 7:2 left in the game. This would be the final score of the game with Platte Valley coming out on top 32-20.

Rock Port’s defense was able to hold Platte Valley to only one touchdown in the second half. Jack Meyerkorth led the team with 14 tackles and an interception while Tayden Cook and Gabe Gebhards had 10 tackles each.

Rock Port now moves to District 6 action with a first round bye. The Blue Jays will play the winner of Friday night’s contest between East Atchison and Mound City on Friday, November 8.
