The Atchison County Commission met Thursday, October 24, 2024. Present were: Presiding Commissioner Curtis Livengood, South District Commissioner Richard Burke, North District Commissioner Jim Quimby, and Susette Taylor, Clerk of the Commission
Presiding Commissioner Livengood called the meeting to order.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Bills were reviewed and approved for payment.
Propane bids were opened and read at 9:15 a.m. The only bid was from MFA Oil & Propane for $1.45 per gallon delivered with monitoring and tanks provided. The commissioners voted to accept the bid from MFA Oil.
Rock hauling bids for 2025 were opened and read at 10:00 a.m. Road and Bridge Deputy Allison Cherry sat in on the opening. The following bids were received: John Gilmore Trucking, $8.95 per ton; Grounds Control, $9.55 per ton; Holt County Ready Mix, $8.50 per ton; Rulo Transportation, $8.92 per ton to Fairfax and $11.73 per ton to Rock Port; and WSD Hauling LLC, $8.73 per ton. The commission tabled all bids for review and called in Assistant Road and Bridge Supervisor Kenny Wallace to review. After review the commissioners voted to accept the low bid from Holt County Ready Mix.
Treasurer Debbie True was in to discuss the lease agreement with Prime Health Care Management for Pleasant View Nursing Home. She reported they are currently two months behind on their lease payment and the November invoice has been sent. It was agreed that if payment is not received in the next 30 days the commission will contact their attorney to see how to move forward.
Andy Riley was in to visit with the commission about the 2025 budget for law enforcement.
