Kelly M. (Powell) Chard was born in Davenport, Iowa, on May 7, 1969. She was one of two children of Gary and Gweneth (Cowan) Powell.

Kelly graduated from Rock Port High School, Rock Port, Missouri, then attended Wade College in Dallas for Marketing/Merchandising. Later she attended Metro Community College in Omaha for Artistic Welding, Iowa Western, and The University of Phoenix for Information Technology. Following Wade College, she returned to Rock Port where she raised three children. She was known as a great cook and a lover of dogs; for a time, she catered out of her house, and she owned and operated Red Star Deli in Rock Port.

Kelly passed on December 13, 2024, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, after a long battle with illness. She was surrounded by family and her closest, lifelong friends on her passing.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Amanda Powell of Auburn, Nebraska; son and daughter-in-law, Joshua and Brooklynn Baughman of Rock Port; son and daughter-in-law, Nate and Kelsey Chard of Rock Port; daughter, Lexi Chard of Auburn; two grandchildren, Jameson Chard and Bray Baughman; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be a private inurnment at the Riverton Cemetery in Riverton, Iowa, for family and close friends at a future date. Care was entrusted to Chamberlain Funeral Home, Rock Port.
