• Showing at The Tarkio Theatre: “Sons of Adventure” with Russell Hayden and Lynn Roberts, “Air Hostess” with Gloria Henry and Audrey Long, “Farewell to Arms” with Gary Cooper, “Prince of Foxes” with Tyrone Power and Orson Welles, and “Red Canyon” with Ann Blythe and George Brent.
• The Hart-Bartlett-Sturtevant Grain Company is now in their new building adjacent to the C. B. and Q. railroad track south of Highway 4. The new 35,000 bushel elevator and office building at the new site are now in use and the old 10,000 bushel elevator will be used for storage and during the rush harvest season.
• The Tarkio area had the weather book thrown at it during the week, including a 50-degree range in temperatures. Last week on Thursday and Friday, the area was enjoying springlike weather with a high of 49 degrees. Yesterday morning the mercury dipped to a -1. Five inches of snow fell and winds ranged to 25 miles per hour with strong gusts.
February 20, 1975
• Stuart Coe and Jill Vette were named the Tarkio High School Basketball Homecoming King and Queen following the games against Rock Port February 7.
• Tarkio College has appointed Bonnie Lee Morrow as the college’s athletic director. Morrow is an instructor in physical education and head coach of the women’s volleyball team at the college.
• Members of the Tarkio Rotary Club served pancakes and whole hog sausage to over 500 people Saturday evening at their benefit supper. All proceeds will be used to purchase playground equipment for the Tarkio South Park.
• The next guest in the Tarkio College Artist-Lecture Series is Dr. Albert Glock. Dr. Glock is Director of the American School of Oriental Research, the William F. Allbright Institute, in Jerusalem. He is engaged in archeological excavations in northern Israel.
• Jon Willers won the 155 pound weight class of the AAA Regional Wrestling Tournament in Cameron, Missouri. He pinned his opponent in 3:32 in the finals. Jon, who has a season record of 20 wins and 3 losses, will travel to Columbia to compete February 21 and 22 to wrestle for the state championship.

• Ask Elsie Fae column: “When we have a ‘hymn sing’ at the Methodist Church, members of the congregation are invited to call out the page number of their favorite hymn and then we sing the first verse. Last Sunday, Tommy Lindsay called out page #176. When we turned to that page, we discovered that the title and all the words were in Spanish. To avoid the gibberish, Leland Crapson (our choir director) suggested we sing #175 instead. Adios, Tommy, we are sending you to Spain.”
• Tarkio High School wrestler Tim Vette qualified for State by finishing third at Sectionals in the 152-pound weight class.
• The Tarkio City Council approved street improvements to Locust Street, which leads to the new apartments being built. The street will be widened from the currrent 20 feet driving surface to 24 feet with an additional two feet of curb and gutter.
• Fifty pints of blood were donated at the Tarkio Community Bloodmobile. Joy Clapp gave her 29th pint of blood during the event.
