Jim Monk, Skidmore, Missouri, along with his daughter Kimberly and son Scott, are a family dedicated to the service of their communities and country.

Jim retired in 2009 following 23 years of service with the Navy Seabees Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 15 out of Kansas City. His service included two deployments to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. He retired in  September 2009 as a Construction Mechanic Chief Petty Officer.

Kimberly is in her third year as a police officer with the Ketchikan, Alaska, Police Department. Prior to that, she served with the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department as a patrol officer and as a detective. This followed her graduation from the Kansas City Police Academy.

Scott recently earned his paramedic license following eight years of service as an Emergency Medical  technician (EMT). He was an EMT before graduating from high school. Presently, Scott works for the Sedgewick County Emergency Services, which serves the Wichita, Kansas, community.

Scott’s wife, Kourtney, is a third year medical student at the KU Medical School in Wichita. She is planning on becoming an ER physician.
