The Rock Port Park Board met February 5, 2025, at 4:30 p.m.

The meeting was called to order by President Sheena Roup at 4:54 p.m. Members present were Crystal Goins, Jill Lager, Amber Graham, Clint Dougherty, and Jax Lutz via phone.

Board members voted to approve the December meeting minutes.

Approval of the financials was tabled until clarification of a few line items.

Park Update

Wood chips are ordered, and MulchSmart will let the park board know a delivery date.

The park board is talking with Sodbusters about the green shed restrooms and hope to have them up and running before the season starts.

Discussion on looking into how other parks handle their event fees was tabled.

Pool Update

A list of items that can be done while it is still colder weather has been started.

The park board will start advertising and taking applications for managers and lifeguards for the 2025 season this week.

Starguard audit registration is being done.

The park board is still trying to find an indoor facility to accommodate them to get training done before the season starts.

New Business

Park board members voted to use leftover mulch budget to replace swings at both playgrounds and to put in a bay for a handicap swing.

Board members voted unanimously to have a contract with Rock Port R-II School stating the school will pay $10,000 of the mowing costs and the meters at the ball field and practice field moved to their account instead of the account of the Rock Port Park and Pool Board.

Larger future projects were listed and prioritized.

Michael Graves will fix the broken fence panel and post.

Board members voted unanimously to extend eligibility to serve on the Park and Pool Board to all citizens in the Rock Port R-II School District.

Board members voted to move $75,000 from the pool improvement fund to a CD at Citizens Bank & Trust, with the same signatures on the CD as all other park board accounts, pending city council approval to move funds.

The meeting adjourned at 6:10 p.m.

The next meeting will be March 12 at 4:30 p.m. in Room 229 (kindergarten) at the Rock Port R-II School.
