Tarkio/Westboro/Fairfax Food Pantry board meeting

The Tarkio/Westboro/Fairfax Food Pantry board met Tuesday, March 11, 2025, with 13 members present. Churches represented were Fairfax – Baptist, Christian, Methodist, and Presbyterian; Tarkio – Catholic, Christian, Church of God, and Good News Church; and Westboro – Methodist and St. John’s Lutheran.

Anita Sutter will be presenting a program on the food pantry to the Fairfax Kiwanis Club. If there are other groups that would like a program on the food pantry, please contact one of the board members.

In January, the pantry served approximately 35 families. In February, 101 individuals representing 39 families were assisted. The winter weather of cold temperatures and snow kept the food pantry from opening at times. The board is appreciative of Mark Staten’s crew as they helped in clearing the sidewalks of snow.

The Westboro Methodist Church will open the pantry in March. The Fairfax Christian and Baptist Churches will open the pantry in April. The food pantry is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. the third and fourth weeks of each month. It is also open the third Tuesday from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The food pantry is currently low on the following items: apple juice (64 oz.), cake mixes (chocolate or white), beef and chicken broth (14.5 oz. can), creamy peanut butter (16 oz.), boxed macaroni and cheese, Hamburger Helper, frozen pizzas, and toilet paper.

The food pantry is located at 315 Main Street in Tarkio. The next board meeting will be Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 9:30 a.m.
