• Showing at The Tarkio Theatre: “Dude Goes West” with Eddie Albert and Gale Storm, “One Last Fling” with Alexis Smith and Zachary Scott, “Blood and Sand” with Tyrone Power, and “Adams Rib” with Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn.
• Four Tarkio ministers will speak during Holy Week assemblies next week at Tarkio High School: Rev. Frederick J. Fahrion of the First Presbyterian Church; Rev. W. E. Schleiffarth of the Christian Church; Rev. James A. Adams of the Baptist Church; and Rev. L.V. Coons of the Assembly of God Church. The theme is “The Meaning of the Cross.”
• Clouds of dust whipped by high winds just short of five miles per hour less than hurricane velocity, swept the Tarkio area Sunday afternoon. The local U.S. Airways Communications station reported a record low barometric reading for this station of 27.92. Temperatures climbed to 78 degrees during the storm.
• Another first for Squire Ice Cream Company in Tarkio: All homogenized milk is now fortified with Vitamin D at no extra cost.
April 3, 1975
• Tarkio TOPS Chapter 176 attended the Northwest Missouri TOPS Area Recognition Days March 21 and 22 in Kansas City. The chapter received the “Prettiest Costumes” award, with all Tarkio members in attendance wearing matching green pantsuits and navy blue shells.
• Debbie Vance, a sixth grader in Mr. MacFarland’s class, found a new way to use sugar cubes. Using two and a half boxes of sugar cubes, she made a model of the capital of Argentina for her report on South America.
• The Jones Cafe in Tarkio sustained considerable smoke and water damage, plus a hole burned through the roof, in a fire that took place Thursday, March 27. A short in a wire leading to a neon light transformer was given as the cause of the blaze.

• Tarkio High School will present an all-school play “The Boyfriend Project” April 8 and 9. “The Boyfriend Project” is about five teenage girls who get so upset with their boyfriends’ ways that they form a support group, “Good Girls With Bad Boyfriends.” Cast members include Maggie McAdams, Megan McAdams, Melissa Mitchell, Melody Riggins, Shannon Riley, Amanda Salmond, Luke Cox, Derek Hancock, Paul Klute, Adam Laur, and Tim Vette.
• Thirty-five senior boys and 24 senior girls in the 275 Conference played the last basketball games of their high school careers at the second annual Tarkio Avalanche 275 Conference All-Senior Basketball Classic Saturday, March 25.
• Atchison County Digital Services held an open house and ribbon cutting March 24 at the Tarkio Avalanche office. The new provider for Atchison County’s cable television services gave away several prizes, including a television, won by Sid and Gary Cooper.
• Tarkio Community Betterment and Tarkio Chamber of Commerce hosted their annual Tarkio Community Awards’ Banquet March 20. Some of the honorees included: Jackie Aeschliman – Citizen of the Year; Mary Ann Ohrt – Employee of the Year; Pat Peterson – Employee of the Year; Leonard, Janene, David, Rachel, and Denise McEnaney – Farm Family of the Year; and Mary Ruth Koch – Youth Leadership Award.
