Mr. Terry Petersen, Tarkio High School Principal, was the commencement speaker. He told the grads, “The future isn’t something to fear, it’s something to create. Prepare with courage, kindness, and curiosity.”
Valedictorian Kamryn Brown encouraged her classmates to “Slow down; take in the moments, for your time will come.”

Tarkio High School graduates gave their caps a toss at the conclusion of the 2025 commencement ceremony.
River Dow was carried out of the gym by fellow grads Owen DeRosier and Luke Morey.
Haylee Clark got a hug from Afton Hannah in the receiving line following graduation.
The commencement ceremony for the Tarkio High School Class of 2025 was held Sunday, May 11, 2025, in the high school gym. Twenty-three seniors earned their diplomas: Cole Ryan Anderson, Cameron Isaiah Brooks, Kamryn Denise Brown, Sydnee Leigh Bruns, Ariel Brezie Bywater, Charley Ann Caudill, Haylee Lynnae Clark, Owen Christopher DeRosier, River Stanley Dow, Alexander Angelo Erickson, Colton Dean Hall, Jillian Nacole Hannah, Abigail Louise Harms, John Gabriel Harms, Claudia Marie Hernandez, Jayla Marie Irvine, Cameron Michael Kephart, Luke Aron Morey, Connor Ray Morton, Elizabeth Carol Schlueter, Blake William Wesley Simmons, Teagen Reece Elizabeth Wennihan, and Alyson Nicole Wooten.
The top five students were: Kamryn Denise Brown (valedictorian), Elizabeth Carol Schlueter (salutatorian), Abigail Louise Harms, Cole Ryan Anderson, and Connor Ray Morton.
Graduates who completed the Missouri College Preparatory Studies were Kamryn Brown, River Dow, Abbie Harms, Gabe Harms, Connor Morton, and Lizzie Schlueter.
Senior National Honor Society members included Cole Ryan Anderson, Kamryn Denise Brown, Sydnee Leigh Bruns, Owen Christopher DeRosier, River Stanley Dow, Abigail Louise Harms, John Gabriel Harms, Connor Ray Morton, Elizabeth Carol Schlueter, and Alyson Nicole Wooten.
Senior class officers were: Kami Brown, president; Lizzie Schlueter, vice-president; Abbie Harms, secretary; Sydnee Bruns, treasurer; and Connor Morton and Aly Wooten, student council representatives. Class sponsors are Dustin Lambertsen and Melody Barnett.
The class song was “Vienna” by Billy Joel. The class motto was “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” – 1 Timothy 4:12. Class colors were emerald green and peach and the class flower was Asiatic Lily.
The Tarkio High School Band played “Pomp & Circumstance” as the seniors, led by junior escorts, Quin Staten and Dylan Drummond, filed into the gymnasium. Tarkio High School Principal Terry Petersen led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance. Tarkio R-I Superintendent Bob Heddinger welcomed all in attendance and introduced the guest speaker, Mr. Terry Petersen. A slide show presentation was played and then the Tarkio High School Chorus sang “I Will Sing You The Stars” by Mark Burrows. Kamryn Brown, valedictorian, and Lizzie Schlueter, salutatorian, gave remarks.
Mr. Terry Petersen, with the assistance of Tarkio R-I School Board President Mr. Joshua Wright, presented the diplomas. Mr. Petersen then led everyone in the Pledge to the School Flag and the graduates exited the gym to their class song, “Vienna.”
Everyone gathered outside on the east lawn to congratulate the graduates.
