Monday, May 5, 2025, was a beautiful, sunny day to honor Tarkio College graduate Robert “Bob” Austin. His wonderful family members made arrangements to plant a tree in Bob’s memory. Bob was a Tarkio College graduate and earned his degree in English literature. He loved Tarkio College and the campus, especially considering that his father, Nate, was a biology professor there. Bob’s brother, Tim (Pam) Austin, and sisters, Marty (Barney) Farley and Patti Griffith planted the tree on the campus and shared wonderful stories of their memories of when their father worked there. After the tree was planted, they even got to see a a cabinet located inside the Curnutt Center that still had insect displays with bugs they had helped tag and place in the cabinet all those years ago.
