Jamie Howlett from Charleville, Queensland, Australia, had the winning ride on Friday night with a score of 83.5.

All-around cowboy winner Austin Madison from Onawa, Iowa, took home $1,147 in tie-down roping and steer wrestling.

Tyler Freeman from Cadiz, Kentucky, scored 76 points on his ride to win the Tarkio Rodeo saddle bronc riding.

Bullfighters Nathan Weaver, Cade Burns, and Kyle Weaver had their hands full both nights as they worked to protect the rider. Thank you, gentlemen.

The 2025 Tarkio Rodeo Announcer/“Man on the Mic” was Brandon McLagan. Brandon gave a new perspective of the announcer as he was on horseback throughout the rodeo.

Quin Staten kicked off the 31st annual Tarkio Rodeo with the singing of the national anthem.

John Payne, The One Arm Bandit, kept the crowd entertained with his zebra and wild horse as he loaded them on top of his trailer.

As part of his show, Dalton Morris showed off his rope handling skills and added some flames to keep things interesting.

Miss Rodeo Missouri Courtney McCollum had the honor of carrying the American Flag for the nation anthem.

Pickup men Cash Smith and Tanner Hunt had a long night of work keeping the livestock under control and helping the riders get off safely.

Nicole Thomas from Buncombe, Illinois, placed second with a 16.10 second ride.

Tanner Hayes from Elkhart, Kansas, placed second with a 71 score in the saddle bronc riding.

Nick Jordan from Oskaloosa, Iowa, scored a 79 and finished in second place overall.

Cade Burns, one of the bullfighters, jumps in front of the bull to protect the rider, who is exiting the arena.

Nikki Reynolds from Ellsinore, Missouri, took first place in the barrel race with a time of 15.97 seconds.

Tarkio Rodeo Committee members Cody Joesting and Dalton Riley presented Miss Teen Rodeo Missouri Jordan Diercks and Miss Rodeo Missouri Courtney McCollum with bouquets of flowers to thank them for attending.

The calf scramble was a hit for the kids as they got some of their energy out chasing two calves around the arena, trying to get the ribbon off the calves’ tail.

The 31st annual Tarkio PRCA Rodeo was held June 20 and 21 in Tarkio, Missouri.
In bareback riding the top five riders were as follows: 1) Jamie Howlett, 83.5 points on Silver Creek Pro Rodeo’s Bare Naked, $1,079; 2) Nick Jordan, 79, $818; 3) Shannon Warren, 72, $589; 4) J.J. Alley, 69, $393; and 5) Jeremy Hennen, 60, $229; no other qualified rides.
In the steer wrestling competition, four competitors took home prize money. They are as follows: 1) Austin Madison, 5.8 seconds, $1,147; 2) Peter Fager, 6.0, $860; 3) Jake Thomas, 6.5, $573; and 4) Fenton Nelsen, 7.9, $287.
In team roping, the following six duos earned prize money: 1) Klay Yaussi/Kash Yaussi, 5.1 seconds, $1,329 each; 2) Dalton Turner/Clay Clayman, 5.3, $1,100; 3) Jesse Boos/Reed Boos, 5.4, $871; 4) Jason Arndt/Wade Perry, 5.6, $642; 5) Brandon Farris/Braden Harmon, 5.8, $412; and 6) Quentin Sawyer/Carson Stroup, 7.3, $229.
The only three riders to qualify for prize money in saddle bronc riding were: 1) Tyler Freeman, 76 points on Silver Creek Pro Rodeo’s Native Tounge, $1,042; 2) Tanner Hayes, 71, $790; and 3) Trey Watts, 59, $569; no other qualified rides.
The top six competitors in the tie-down roping competition were as follows: 1) Dallen McIntire, 9.3 seconds, $913; 2) Haze Wright, 9.8, $756; 3) Blake Eliason, 9.9, $598; 4) Jody Green, 11.3, $441; 5) Cory Dummit, 11.4, $283; 6) Chance Fleming, 11.7, $157.
The top eight barrel racing competitors were as follows: 1) Nikki Reynolds, 15.97 seconds, $896; 2) Nicole Thomas, 16.10, $779; 3) (tie) Micala Dummit and Brittney Hipp, 16.16, $604 each; 5) Lakota Elkins, 16.22, $429; 6) Kassie Hohenstein, 16.28, $312; 7) Lindsay Leverington, 16.46, $195; and 8) Kylee Ruff, 16.48, $78.
There were no qualified bull riders on the weekend.
