Captain Shawn P. Skoglund, commanding officer of Troop H, St. Joseph, Missouri, recently announced the assignment of two new troopers to Troop H. The new troopers were members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s 123rd Recruit Class and graduated from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy on June 18, 2025. The new troopers will report for duty in their respective assignments on July 7, 2025.

Trooper Eric M. Sigman, a native of Maryville, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 1, which serves the citizens of Atchison and Holt counties. Trooper Sigman is a 2013 graduate of Maryville High School. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served as a heavy equipment operator until April 2018. Prior to his employment with the Patrol, Trooper Sigman was employed by the Missouri Department of Transportation as a senior maintenance worker.

Trooper Joshua P. Koops, a native of Raymore, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 3, which serves the citizens of Gentry and Harrison counties. Trooper Koops graduated from Raymore-Peculiar High School in Peculiar, Missouri, in 2010. He joined the Missouri National Guard in August 2019, where he continues to serve as a sergeant.
