• Members of the Tarkio United Presbyterian Church will hear Dr. John Stewart, missionary from India, at the 11:00 a.m. worship service Sunday. Dr. Stewart is retired and he and his wife now live in Tarkio in the home of Dr. J.A. Thompson.
• Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Sloey of near Tarkio celebrated their golden wedding anniversary the fourth of July. The Sloeys were married on that day in 1900 at the home in which they now reside, which was at that time the home of Mrs. Sloey’s parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. James J. Shoecraft.
• Abell Produce in Tarkio is advertising Silver Dollar Day, Saturday, July 8: Top cash prices for your cream, poultry and eggs will be paid to you with silver dollars.
• 1st Lieutenant James L. McCall is now stationed at Yokota Air Base in Honshu, Japan. Lt. McCall is assigned to the 512th Reconnaissance Squadron as a pilot. He will participate in weather reconnaissance missions over much of the North Pacific in the giant RB-29 aircraft.
• Showing at The Tarkio Theatre: “The Lost Tribe,” “Outcasts of Black Mesa,” “The Chase,” “The Outriders,” and “Jolson Sings Again.”
July 10, 1975
• Area youth will be competing in the National High School Championship Rodeo in Gallup, New Mexico, in August. Denise Lawrence of Tarkio won the pole pending event and placed third in the cloverleaf barrel race at the Missouri State High School Championship Rodeo. Jack Harbin of Tarkio placed second in the boys’ cutting horse competition and second in the steer wrestling.
• “Get Me To The Church On Time,” “The Rain In Spain,” and “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?” are just a few of the songs that will ring through the rafters of the Mule Barn Theatre when “My Fair Lady” opens July 16. The show will be making a two-week run at the Mule Barn.
• Newcomers to Tarkio are the Reverend and Mrs. David L. Evans and their children, David and Susan. Reverend Evans began his pastorate at the United Presbyterian Church in Tarkio July 1 and the family is currently residing in the church parsonage at 1105 Sycamore.
• The new tornado slide purchased by the Tarkio Park Board and the City of Tarkio has been installed at the South City Park. The slide was purchased for $1,750 and is reportedly the most popular piece of playground equipment in the manufacturer’s entire line.

• Rachel and Danny Graves of Tarkio are the proud parents of a baby girl, Lily Rachel Graves. Lily was born at Community Hospital Association in Fairfax Friday, June 30. She is welcomed home by her big brother, Max, age three.
• The old sidewalk in front of Tarkio City Hall on Main Street was taken out last week.
• Pamida, Inc. recently announced plans for the conversion of Place’s stores to Pamida stores. The conversion will begin immediately in 48 of the 49 Place’s stores, including Tarkio’s. Storewide inventory liquidation sales at the 48 stores are currently taking place.
• Summa Pharmacy, located at 304 Main Street in Tarkio, celebrated its 20th anniversary Friday, June 30. Doug Summa of Tarkio purchased the local pharmacy in 1980.
