A one-vehicle crash sent the driver to a Nebraska hospital via Life Flight on I-29 Saturday, August 23, 2025, in Atchison County. The crash occurred at 3:03 p.m. at the 119.8 southbound mile-marker nine miles north of Rock Port, Missouri. A 2021 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 53-year-old man from Platte City, Missouri, was southbound on the interstate when the vehicle traveled off the east side of the roadway into the grass median. The Chevy then crossed the northbound lanes, impacted a fence, then a ditch, and overturned onto its top. The vehicle came to rest off the east side of I-29 on its top facing northwest.
The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered serious injuries and was flown by Life Flight to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. The 2021 Chevrolet Silverado was totaled and towed from the scene by Double M Towing.
The accident was investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. T.L. Shupe, who was assisted by the Atchison County Sheriff’s Office and Life Flight.
