Sheriff Andrew Riley presents Steve Irvine with a plaque and a decanter set. They also retired his weapon.

As well wishers stopped by and visited with Steve Irvine they also enjoyed some of the many cupcakes and cookies during a reception in his honor on Friday.

The Atchison County Sheriff held a retirement reception Friday, August 29, 2025, for Steve “Stick” Irvine. After 40 years of service to Atchison County and the area communities, Steve received his last radio call with badge number 831.

Steve started his career working for Chief Mick McAdams at the Tarkio Police Department. He then worked for Sheriffs Glen Littles and Jack Millsap before going to work for the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Steve would then return to the Atchison County Sheriff’s Office with Dennis Martin and now Andrew Riley, in the role of courtroom bailiff. Steve served his community for over 40 years and we thank you for your dedication and service.
