Cpl. K.L. Ebersold of the Missouri State Highway Patrol investigated a one vehicle accident August 27, 2025, at 5:21 p.m. According to the accident report, a 57-year-old female from Maryville, Missouri, was eastbound on Hwy. 46 nine miles east of Fairfax and swerved to avoid deer in the roadway. The 2010 Chrysler Town and Country traveled off the south side of the roadway. The front bumper struck an embankment and the van came to rest on its wheels off the south side of the roadway.

The driver sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Community Hospital-Fairfax by the Atchison-Holt Ambulance District. She was not wearing a seat belt. The van was moderately damaged and towed by Double M Towing.
