The 37th Annual Gene Kent and Melvin Livengood Memorial Fishing Derby took place on Saturday, August 12, and Sunday, August 13, 2017, on the Missouri River. The 77 participants working in 29 teams gathered for the start of the derby at Thurnau Landing west of Craig, Missouri, before taking off. The group caught 1,026.6 pounds of carp and 402.2 pounds of catfish.
The following is a list of winners in each division:
Carp division – 158 fish caught
1st – Roger Pennel, James Thompson and Brett Johnson
2nd – Mike Livengood, Matt Livengood, Tyler Slough and Austin Ascherl
3rd – Ed Riley, Kristofer Riley, and Randy Bungenstock
4th – Lynn Thurnau, Robert Gibson and Michael Graves
5th – Kirbie Carder and Quentin Carder
Catfish division – 105 fish caught
1st – John Stoner, Jordan Stoner and Paige Stoner
2nd – Kirbi Carder and Quentin Carder
3rd – Kevin Bomar, Annie Bomar and Hailey Bomar
4th – Ronnie Stoner and Jeremey Rhoades
5th – Jim Jacobs and Russ Lamb
Youth division
1st – 3.7 pounds flathead – Kalyn Mertens
