Twelve members of the Allen Schiffern American Legion Auxiliary Unit 199 met on Monday, October 13, 2025. Judy gave an opening prayer. Michaelle led everyone in the pledge to our flag and the preamble to the constitution of the American Legion Auxiliary. Barb read August’s minutes, which were accepted. There were not enough members present to hold a meeting in September. Sheridan gave the treasurer’s report, which was accepted.
Sheridan announced that the new stove will be delivered Wednesday, October 15, with plans to have it operational for the annual turkey dinner Sunday, November 2.
The auxiliary is still looking for a shipping container to be placed outside the legion building to be used as storage.
The fall rummage sale was very successful thanks to the donors, members, city employees, volunteers and Kloseks for all the time and hard work. It really takes a community to set up and take down an event as large as this.
The fall conference is October 17-19 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Sheridan will be attending.
Cleaning the building will take place October 20-24 and 27-28. Members are encouraged to come in to help whatever hours are convenient for them.
The group discussed the upcoming turkey dinner for November 2, 2025. Turkeys have been ordered. Flyers will be posted. Watch for newspaper ads. The calling lists for salads and desserts will be given out soon.
The district meeting and Christmas bazaar will be held in Burlington Junction, Missouri, November 15, 2025.
The report on mandatory obligations to the department was given. No further business was brought forward. Judy gave a closing prayer. The meeting was adjourned by Linda. The next auxiliary meeting will be November 10, 2025.
