The impact of recent federal funding reductions, exacerbated by the lingering concerns of the government shutdown, has been severe. However, the most critical blow is the staggering 75% cut to our federal and state contract funding, dramatically reducing our core operational budget.

We are implementing immediate changes to sustain daily operations. It costs our center approximately $10.80 to produce each nutritious meal. While meals remain available at no charge for seniors aged 60 and over, the need to meet the suggested contribution has become critical. We currently suggest a contribution of $5.00 for both in-house and home-delivered meals.

The Tarkio Nutrition Center has a daily operational cost of approximately $500.00. The future of this program hinges on community support. We implore our neighbors to step forward during this challenging time. Sponsoring a meal, making a one-time donation, or contributing in any amount provides a direct lifeline, ensuring the Tarkio Nutrition Center can continue to nourish and serve our area’s most vulnerable seniors.
