November 17, 1950

• Showing at the Paramount Theatre in Rock Port: “Indian Territory” with Gene Autry, “Easy Living” with Victor Mature and Lucille Ball, and “Sierra” with Audie Murphy, Wanda Hendrix, Burl Ives, and Dean Jagger.

• Come see Aunt Jemima in person at the Hiway Super IGA Market all day Saturday, November 18. Aunt Jemima will be serving her delicious pancakes hot off the griddle.

• Walter’s Store is advertising the official Hopalong Cassidy Radio by Arvin for $16.95 and a box camera with flash attachment for $4.50.

• Norman Long has purchased the Rock Port Fountain from Chris Simon and took charge of the business Monday. The Rock Port Fountain is one of the community’s favorite refreshment places.

• The Rock Port Community Club’s annual Farmers’ Night attracted a crowd of several hundred men from the surrounding community Wednesday evening at the Memorial Building. A fried chicken dinner was served, Ross McCarty’s musical group from Tarkio performed, Stewart Harmes sang a solo, and Don Spaulding of the St. Joseph Livestock Exchange was the guest speaker.

November 13, 1975

• Showing at the Paramount Theatre in Rock Port: “Bite The Bullet” and “Seven Alone” starring Dewey Martin, Aldo Ray, Ann Collins, Dean Smith, and Stewart Petersen.

• A fire and explosion completely destroyed the Triple T Drive Inn November 8 around 7:20 p.m. About five minutes after the smoke was first noticed the broaster blew and the fire spread rapidly. Thankfully, everyone in the building had already exited by then.

• Signs of winter weather are upon us as snow fell for the first time this season on Wednesday morning. The snow melted as it hit the ground, but left behind cold weather and nippy winds.

• The Rock Port junior high and high school had 91 outstanding students listed on the first quarter honor roll and high honor roll. There were 23 students on the high honor roll and 68 on the regular honor roll.

November 8, 2000

• Parents’ Night was held before the Rock Port-Albany football game on Friday, November 3. All of the senior football players, twirlers, cheerleaders, and their parents were honored. Those seniors are Andy Bremer, Hillary Chamberlain, Stefanie Dalrymple, Branden Makings, Melanie Moore, Jessica Moran, Anne Reynolds, Brent Showalter, Jordan Shrader, Amy VanMeter, and Jill Webster.

• The Rock Port Booster Club held a drawing for a Chevy Corsica Friday, November 3, at the halftime of the Rock Port-Albany football game. The car was once used for driver’s education by Rock Port R-II. Dave Robinson was the winner.

• Wm. J.H. “Bill” and Doris Jean (Stotts) Stoner are being honored on their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, November 12, with an open house at the Rock Port Baptist Church. They were married on that day in 1950 at the Chamberlain Wedding Chapel in Rock Port. Doris was a teacher in the Rock Port School and Bill was a farmer.

• The 26th annual Halloween Parade, sponsored by Citizens Bank & Trust, was held October 31. There were 129 registered participants. Dutch DeBuhr won the grand prize of 26 gold dollars.

• Funeral services were held for James Russell Amthor of Rock Port. Jim and his wife, Mary, owned the Amthor Beauty and Barber Shop, which Jim ran for over 50 years.
