The City of Fairfax Board of Aldermen held a regular meeting Monday, November 17, 2025. The meeting was called to order by Tabitha Wintz, mayor, at 6:00 pm. Roll was taken. Also in attendance were: Debra Wyatt, Ryan Kingery, Tristan Ray, Stephanie Stevens, Alderpersons; Christy Stevens, City Clerk; John Brown, City Employee; Kamron Woodring, Public Works Superintendent; and Terry Miller, City Treasurer.

The tentative agenda was approved.

The minutes of the October 21, 2025, meeting and accounts payable were approved.

New Business

Christy Stevens, city clerk, presented the council with the 2026 budget for their review. Christy suggested changing how payroll was taken out of two accounts next year to help those accounts in profits. After a couple corrections and a short discussion, Ryan Kingery made a motion to accept the 2026 budget. Tristan Ray seconded and the motion passed unanimously. A resolution will be made and read at the next meeting.

After seeing and discussing the 2026 budget it was decided to raise sewer rates next year. Debra Wyatt made a motion to increase the base sewer rate to $12 for the first 900 gallons and $.0030 each additional gallon. Stephanie Stevens seconded and the motion passed unanimously. A resolution will be made and read at the next meeting.

Staff Reports

Terry Miller, treasurer, presented the council with all accounts in balance. She also let them know a CD will mature in December. She will notify the council with rates when the due date gets closer.

Kamron Woodring, Public Works Superintendent, reported that they have been washing a culvert out and put some cold patch down around town. He asked the council what they would want to spend the budgeted street money on next year. After a short discussion the council decided to table the topic until the next meeting to think about what will be prioritized for streets. Kamron will work on getting the city street grader up for bids soon.

Christy Stevens, City Clerk, reported that election filing opens December 9 for two alderman-at-large positions. Filing packets can be picked up at city hall.

The aldermen voted to go into executive session at 7:20 p.m. to discuss personnel.

The council came out of executive session at 7:50 p.m.

The meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m.

The next meeting is December 16 at 6:00 p.m.
