The Rock Port Blue Jays travelled to St. Joseph, Missouri, Saturday, November 22, to meet the St. Joseph Christian Lions in 8-man state quarterfinal action.

From the opening kick-off the Blue Jays dominated St. Joseph Christian, taking advantage of a short kick and a good return by Jack Meyerkorth. The Jays ran two plays before runningback Brock Holmes punched the ball in for the first of his five touchdowns for the day. Brock has surpassed 50 touchdowns for the season.

The Jays played one of their best and cleanest games of the season both offensively and defensively, keeping penalties to a minimum with five for 40 yards.

Offensively, they executed well, putting up 449 total yards, 368 rushing and 81 passing, 18 first downs and found the endzone on nine occasions, with scores by Jack Meyerkorth, Brock Holmes and Logan Ellis.

Defensively, everyone did their job, allowing only two touchdowns in the first half and only allowing eight first downs the entire game.

Rock Port will get home field advantage for the semifinal game this Saturday, November 29, at Blue Jay Stadium. Game time is at 1:00 p.m. They will take on the Concordia Orioles, who are 9 and 3 for the year.
