• The Rock Port Market invites the public to the store for free Gooch’s Best golden pancakes, Log Cabin maple syrup, Armour’s pure pork sausage, and Folgers coffee Saturday. Prize drawings will be held for a 25 pound bag of Gooch’s Best flour, a bathroom scale, and more.

• The Watts Style Shop, operated by Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Watts, has been busy this week moving to its new location in one of the Helmer buildings recently purchased from Rex Shandy. The operators expect to carry on a cleaning and pressing business in connection to their stock of merchandise.

• As of December 30, 1950, Rock Port’s two banks had deposits of $5,394,861.70. Both banks hold their annual stockholders’ meetings this week.

• Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Orlin recently bought the former Bill Stanton home at 702 Calhoun. Formerly from Hawaii, they moved into their new residence January 3. Mr. Orlin is a retired accountant and Mrs. Orlin is a retired teacher.

• Jim Carpenter was elected as the president of the Rock Port Chamber of Commerce for 1976 and Bill Amthor was named vice-president.

• Blue Jay Corner: Good News – Bad News: Good News – Miss Brinkman is now instructing her classes in archery. Bad News – Mr. Smith’s health classes are having to learn the removal and first aid treatment for arrow wounds.

• Sam Lansdown, with the City of Rock Port, has completed the requirements of the four year Missouri Association of Municipal Utilities Power Lineman Training program. Sam is among 23 that will complete the program this year.

• Carl Holden has moved back to Rock Port after 50 years. Carl retired from Chemical MFG and wanted to get back to small town life.

• The Rock Port Community Garden Club announced two state winners in the Smokey Bear/Woodsey Owl Poster Contest. Courtney Bartles placed second in the second grade division and Max Anderson placed third in the fifth grade division.

• The Rock Port junior high girls’ basketball team finished the season with a 10-1 record. The girls were coached by Marlene Demott and Laura Mangnall.

• Amie Schleicher is the new Livestock Specialist headquartered at the Atchison County Outreach and Extension Center in Rock Port.
