Lyndia Kay Schomburg, the daughter of Christian O. and Kay Marie (Harbin) Husing, was born July 23, 1946, in Hamburg, Iowa. She attended Rock Port High School, Rock Port, Missouri.

On September 30, 1963, Lyndia was united in marriage to Danny Cooper. They became the parents of two children, Monica and Jeff. They later divorced. In 1980, Lyndia was united in marriage to Butch Schomburg and they later divorced.

Lyndia loved floral designing and decorating. She owned and operated The Clay Pot, Rock Port, for numerous years. Lyndia then served as Mayor of Rock Port from 1991-1994.

Lyndia was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Rock Port. She enjoyed visiting with friends and family. Lyndia passed away Friday, December 19, 2025, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, at the age of 79.

Besides her parents, Lyndia was preceded in death by son, Jeff Cooper; son-in-law, Darryl Bates; brother, Buddy Husing; and niece, Angela Husing. Survivors include daughter, Monica Bates; grandchildren, Sam and Walt Cooper; sister, Valeria (Steve) Grossman; niece, Tami Grossman; nephew, Travis Husing; and numerous other family members.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port, conducted by Mr. Chris Stevens. There is no scheduled visitation. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Rock Port Senior Center. Arrangements are under the direction of Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
