• Showing at the Paramount Theatre in Rock Port: “Dynamite Pass” with Tim Holt and his saddle pal Chito, “Outside the Wall,” “The Great Missouri Raid,” and “You Can’t Forget.”
• Lt. (j.g.) John T. Wells is a crew member of the destroyer U.S.S. Henderson, which is operating in the Far East in support of the United Nations vessels in action in Korea.
• A crowd estimated around 300 to 400 people heard the Midland College a cappella choir in concert at the Memorial Building Sunday afternoon. The group gave a pleasing program under the leadership of Prof. Oscar Lyders, who has trained Midland choirs for 24 years.

• Showing at the Paramount Theatre in Rock Port: “The Apple Dumpling Gang,” “The Mysterious Monsters,” and “Earthquake.”
• C.O. “Bud” Husing, past master of the Masonic lodge in Rock Port, was conferred a Knight Commander Court of Honour of the Scottish Rite November 20 at the Temple in St. Joseph. He is the first Rock Port Mason to be so honored.
• Trail’s End in Rock Port advertised bar-b-que – braised beef tips, baked or French fried potatoes, combination salad, hot rolls, coffee, or iced tea for $3.50.
• Jennie’s Dairy Sweet in Rock Port advertised sirloin steak – 5 ounces with French fries, slaw, or salad, roll and butter for $2.25; and homemade vegetable stew for 65¢.
• Greenley’s Market advertised the following specials: Boston Butt pork roast, 99¢ per pound; Crisco, 3 pound can for 99¢; and Heinz ketchup, 32-ounce keg for 59¢.

• The Rock Port Blue Jays won the Fairfax Basketball Tournament, defeating Fairfax, Northeast Nodaway, and Tarkio.
• Giraffes, lions, and pandas are just a few of the endangered animals you’ll find in every box of Animal Treasures, the latest addition of the Girl Scout cookie line and the first introduced in celebration of the new Millennium. The cookie is a delicious combination of mouth-watering shortbread and rich fudge, embossed with an endangered animal.
• Stefanie Lynne Dalrymple is this month’s teenager of the month. Stefanie is vice-president of her senior class, secretary of FCCLA and Spirit Club student council member.
• A cooling tower is being installed at the power plant. This should help with water consumption and pressure during the heat of summer.
• The municipal utility crews have been patching water main leaks. The dry summer, coupled with the severe cold and snow, brought on several breaks.
• Crystal Taylor has been chosen as employee of the month at McDonald’s in Rock Port. She has been employed there for three months. Crystal was chosen for this honor because of her consistent hard work and her ability to learn other areas quickly. She is a great asset to the team.
