Coach Wayne Moore received special recognition Friday, January 30, 2026, at the Rock Port Blue Jays’ Winter Homecoming games.

Chris Chamberlain read the following:

“Tonight we would like to honor a man who many would consider one of the greatest teachers and coaches in Rock Port history. During his illustrious career, Coach Wayne Moore inspired thousands of Blue Jays to go far beyond their own expectations to become not only better students and athletes, but better men and women.

“Coach Moore taught and coached with a rare passion and purpose that made him stand above the rest. He possessed a unique combination of being able to challenge his students and athletes with a strict disciplinarian philosophy, while at the same time letting you know he loved you like you were one of his family.

“If you look up at the banners hanging on the walls of the gym, the banners that represent the proud history of our community, make no mistake, Coach Moore played an instrumental role in most of them, even the ones after his coaching career was over. His passion, his style, his enthusiasm had a ripple effect on those who coach today, and hopefully the future as well.

“Coach Moore’s teaching and coaching legacy is not his greatest achievement though. He is an even better person. The love he has for his children and grandchildren is something we should all emulate. Coach Moore will be moving from Rock Port to be closer to family, taking the next step in a life journey few people could surpass.

“Coach Moore, we want to make sure you have some Rock Port memorabilia, to not only have for yourself, but to remind your new friends about who you are, and where you’re from. Blue Jay Nation, please rise and let Coach Moore know how much he is loved. God bless you Coach Moore.”
