Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) Maintenance has been working on improvements at the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 136 and Route J west of Rock Port in Atchison County.
These improvements include:
• Increasing sight distance: By removing portions of the embankment, sight distance will be increased for motorists as they negotiate turns from Route J. Motorists on U.S. Hwy. 136 will also have an increased line of sight approaching the intersection.
• Snow plowing efficiency: Another impact of removing the embankment, snow will be less likely to drift, and there will be more areas for snow to be placed off of the roadway.
• Route J radii: The radii for the corners of Route J will be increased. Increased radii allows for more efficient turning maneuvers.
