Twenty-nine bridges in Atchison, Holt and Nodaway counties are scheduled for rehabilitation. The Missouri Department of Transportation has contracted Capital Paving & Construction, LLC, to complete the project. These bridges were included in the Safe and Sound Bridge program which rebuilt more than 800 bridges approximately 14 years ago. The first bridge rehabilitation is scheduled to begin on the Holt County Route B bridge over Nichols Creek, south of New Point, on Monday, March 16.
All work is weather permitting, and schedules are subject to change. The project is scheduled to be completed in October.
During construction, each roadway will be narrowed to one lane with flaggers directing motorists through the work zone. Workers will be present during daylight hours, Monday through Friday.
Atchison County bridges that will be rehabilitated with this project include the following:
• Missouri Route 111 over Turkey Creek
• Route C over Middle Tarkio Creek
• Route C over Tarkio River
• Route B over Halls Branch
• Missouri Route 46 over East Fork Hickory Creek
• Route V over Main Drainage Ditch #6
• Missouri Route 111 over Drainage Ditch
• Route B over Rock Creek
• Missouri Route 46 over Hickory Creek
• Missouri Route 46 over Little Tarkio Drainage Ditch
