The 2026 Tarkio High School National Honor Society induction ceremony was held Wednesday, March 4, at the Good News Church in Tarkio, Missouri. Nine students were formally recognized as new members of the NHS chapter. New members inducted included Ben Rolf, Macy Stepp, Danika Agnew, Rhoni Caudill, Star Hankins, Savanna Lindsay, Braelynn Weber, Taya Windham, and Azlynn Wiley. These students have earned membership into the Phi Kappa Chapter of the National Honor Society by the effective demonstration of the four qualities held in high esteem by the society – scholarship, leadership, service, and character. The new members will be joining current members Zoe Madron (president), Quin Staten (vice-president), Bailey Wennihan (secretary), Brody Wennihan (treasurer), Raelee Russell, Grace Caudill, Delainee White, Jaeka Wiley, Kennedy White, Olivia Schaefer, Dylan Drummond, Bresayda Jimenez, Emily Gebhards, Bo Peregrine, Finn Hurst, Isaac Vette, Robbie Armstrong, Rainy Nordhausen, and Parker Livengood. The Tar-kio chapter is proud to have been inducting new members since 1927.
In addition to the strong academic records which established the eligibility for membership, the Tarkio chapter members are leaders in many other student organizations and serve the school and community through many activities including Salvation Army bell-ringing, delivering Meals on Wheels at least two times each month, volunteering at the Tarkio/Westboro/Fairfax Food Pantry, and any other volunteer opportunity available. The chapter held two successful blood drives this school year, with a combined total of 97 donors showing up to attempt to give blood, and a total of 85 units of blood collected. The chapter also partnered with FCCLA to host a canned food drive this past fall and 1,926 items were collected for the local food pantry, along with a $100 donation. The chapter’s annual homecoming jersey auction helped raise funds for the chapter to host events, such as the induction ceremony and other events held throughout the year.
