Fairfax Junior High students compete in Music Festival
Fairfax Junior High music students performed well at the Northwest Missouri Music Festival Saturday, March 14, 2026. Results from the event follow: I superior rating – Mixed 6 Instrumental (Mackenzie Oswald, Geb Burke, Alex Wintz, Delaney Oswald, Katie Avrett, and Zander Grossma), Mixed 4 Instrumental (Wendy Hurst, Delaney Oswald, MJ May, and Lela Wright), SSA Vocal (Mackenzie Oswald, Jaycee Stoner, Danyella Puentes, Parker Woodring, Delaney Oswald, Lela Wright, Zailynn Cook, Geb Burke, Katie Avrett, Emma Ohlensehlen, and Wendy Hurst), and Emmett Umbarger (piano).
Suzanne Southard provided accompaniment on the piano and school secretary Laura Wright helped supervise as music director Debra Wyatt was unable to attend due to illness.

Rock Port Junior High music students performed well at the Northwest Missouri Music Festival Saturday, March 14, 2026. Results from the event follow: I superior rating – Locke Chaney (trumpet), Anthony Masonbrink (snare), Elaina Kroeger (baritone), Caisyn Hall (flute), Jolie Steuter (timpani), Jaxson Hale (woodblock), Isaac Dougherty (trumpet), Taylor Cook (clarinet), Nella Steuter (clarinet), Jack Bailey (trombone), Lane Seeley (trombone), and Ryker Gibson (alto sax); and II excellent rating – Frank Kroeger (trombone), Deveni Barth (snare), Ira Cantu (trombone), Greyson Sperber (trombone), Mason Gubser (trombone), Mason Hale (alto sax), Joci Culp (flute), and Collin Frix (alto sax).
Richard Boettner provided accompaniment on the piano. The musicians are lead by director Abby Palmer.

Tarkio High School music students had a great showing at the District Solo/Small Ensemble Festival at St. Joseph Central in St. Joseph, Missouri, Saturday, March 21, 2026. Three vocal solos and one ensemble qualified for State with their I exemplary ratings. Results from the event follow: I gold/exemplary rating – Men’s Seven Vocal Ensemble (Jeremy Bomar, Finn Hurst, Josh Schlueter, Quin Staten, Isaac Vette, Tate Walker, and Brody Wennihan), Brody Wennihan (vocal solo), Quin Staten (vocal solo), and Zoe Madron (vocal solo); and II silver/outstanding rating – Bailey Wennihan (vocal solo), Finn Hurst (vocal solo), Jayden Scott (timpani solo), Macy Stepp (vocal solo), Mixed 8 Vocal Ensemble (Jeremy Bomar, Bella Bywater, Rhoni Caudill, Josh Schlueter, Macy Stepp, Owen Vette, Tate Walker, and Taya Windham), Mixed 8 Vocal Ensemble (Finn Hurst, Zoe Madron, Quin Staten, Macy Stepp, Isaac Vette, Bailey Wennihan, Brody Wennihan, and Taya Windham), Olivia Schaefer (euphonium solo), Rhoni Caudill (vocal solo), Girls’ Sextet Vocal Ensemble (Danika Agnew, Bella Bywater, Rhoni Caudill, Zoe Madron, Bailey Wennihan, and Delainee White), and Taya Windham (vocal solo).
Melody Barnett provided accompaniment on the piano. The musicians are lead by directors Melody Barnett and Nathaniel Wehmeyer.

Rock Port High School music students had a great showing at the District Solo/Small Ensemble Festival at St. Joseph Central in St. Joseph, Missouri, Saturday, March 21, 2026. Four musicians qualified for State with their I exemplary ratings. Results from the event follow: I gold/exemplary rating – Aniyah Williams (trombone solo), Audrey Dougherty (clarinet solo), Brandon Athen (trumpet solo), and Leo Grimes (bass clarinet solo); II silver/outstanding rating – Audrey Dougherty (vocal solo), Leo Grimes (vocal solo), Cooper Daugherty (alto sax solo), Isabella Kroeger (trumpet solo), Lily Wilroy (vocal solo), Mya Welch (flute solo), and Sophia Storm (piano solo); and III bronze/satisfactory rating – Alexis Stanton (vocal solo).
