The Atchison County Development Corporation board met April 9, 2026, at the Tarkio Resource Center. Present were: Mary Ann Hull, Eryn Stepp, Craig Corken, Jill Davis, Roger Martin, and Jeff Meyer, board members; and Monica Bailey, director.
Mary Ann Hull called the meeting to order.
Board members voted to approve the February meeting minutes. They also approved the February and March financials as presented.
Director’s Report
The TIF Board’s annual meeting was held on February 24.
Jake Effler, DED Representative, toured Atchison County with Bailey on March 5.
Annual community lunches were held in March throughout the county at the Tarkio Nutrition Center (26 attendees), River Rock Lanes (36 attendees), and the Fairfax Community Room (51 attendees).
Eighth grade career day was held on March 24. Over 50 students learned about local career opportunities available at Community Hospital-Fairfax, Hurst Greenery, Advanced Pork Systems, and Meyerkorth Aviation (with a special appearance by Linda Dewhirst with Cooper Nuclear Station).
Bailey spoke at County Government Day on March 25.
Countywide Job Shadowing Day for juniors was held on March 26. Twenty locations hosted 45 students.
Bailey attended the Community Foundation of Northwest Missouri board meeting April 7 in St. Joseph.
ACDC membership so far this year totals $7,380, with a total of 143 members.
Several ACDC grants have funds remaining this year:
• Community Cleanup & Beautification ($25-$500 per grant), $1,500 left
• Business Improvement (maximum $1,000-$2,500 per grant), $7,000 left
• Nonprofit (maximum $2,500 per grant), $10,000 left
• Youth Beautification ($500 maximum), $1,500 left
Old Business
Additional bylaw changes were considered. Board members will discuss further at the next meeting.
New Business
Scholarship recipients were selected.
