Glenda Kathryn (Holmes) Sloop was born in Watson, Missouri, on September 26, 1944. She was one of four children of Ray Franklin and Margaret Fern (Clodfelter) Holmes.

Kathryn was a graduate of Watson High School. On May 10, 1963, she married John Paul Sloop, and they became parents of six children.

She graduated with honors from Peru State College, majoring in bookkeeping and accounting. Kathryn enjoyed quilting, needlepoint, and crocheting.

Kathryn passed away at the age of 81 on April 23, 2026, at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Rock Port, Missouri, after a brief stay.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, John, in 2002; their infant daughter, Lora Ann; son, John Michael Sloop; brother, Denis Holmes; and brothers-in-law, Jim Collins and Ed Bright.

Survivors include her sons, Kurtis and his wife Tami Trewet-Sloop of Atlantic, Iowa, Damon Sloop of Watson, David Sloop of Tarkio, Missouri, and Jason Sloop of Hamburg, Iowa; sisters, Sue Bright of Hamburg, Iowa, and Beulah Collins of Watson; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 1, 2026, at the Watson United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be at High Creek Cemetery, Watson, with lunch to follow at the Watson Community Center.
