• Jim Hall, originally of Tarkio and now working for the New Mexico Game and Fish Department, was recently featured in a story in the Western Sportsman, published in Austin, Texas. The story was titled “Cockle-Bur Bass” and talked about Jim working near the Elephant Butte Reservoir.
• If the massive bloom on apple, peach, apricot, and cherry trees can be taken as an indication, this part of the country can look ahead to a bountiful supply of fruit this summer.
• The 1951 Rock Port High School annuals have arrived and are being distributed. A copy may be obtained for $2.50. The 72-page “Rocket” containes individual pictures of students from the first through 12th grades and includes pictures of high school organizations. The cover is silver with a blue rocket and blue lettering.

• Dean C. Curnutt, Rock Port, was honored at Tarkio College’s 90th commencement as a distinguished alumnus. Curnutt graduated from Tarkio College in 1951.
• A provision company will open its doors in the near future in Rock Port. Harold Melvin, owner of Trail’s End, has purchased the building of the Allen Motor Company on Main Street and will open a provision business for the use of Trail’s End in conjunction with a retail outlet.
• Randy Hulett was injured May 6 when an eight pound shotput struck him on the right side of the mouth. Children were playing catch with the shotput when he was struck in the face. He had stitches in his lower lip, had one tooth broken, and several teeth loosened.

• Northwest Missouri Cellular held an open house and appreciation hamburger and hot dog feed last Thursday. Approximately 200 people enjoyed the feast.
• Subway is here in Rock Port at Speedy’s at the I-29/Hwy. 136 junction.
• Alma, Hallie and Jim Clodfelter and Edward Bolin will be leaving on May 15 for El Salvador where they will be delivering food, clothing, and building materials to the victims of the earthquakes that have struck the past four months.
• Christopher Roup, a 1997 Rock Port High School graduate, and Ryan Kingery, a 1996 RPHS graduate, have been accepted to attend UMKC Pharmacy School in Kansas City. Only 75 students have been chosen for this honor.
• Rock Port High School dance team members have been selected for the following school year. They are: Captain Suzanne Hurst, Donna Carroll, Katy Hecker, Shae Esser, Brenda Lutz, Amanda Gray, Nicole Lytle, and Libby Leisman. Kathy Ungles is the sponsor.
