Atchison County residents, including Barb and Glenn Rolf, Kathy Herron, Lee Roy Sickman and Lee Larabee, have donated supplies such as barbed wire and fence posts to the Orphan Grain Train to help rebuild from the wildfires that have ravaged western Nebraska since March.
On March 13, Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen declared emergency and mobilized members of the Nebraska National Guard. While many of the fires have been contained, hundreds of thousands of acres of land have already been scorched. Much of the state west of Grand Island is still in a Red Flag Warning. This means that critical fire weather conditions are persisting currently.
If you would like to assist in the effort, please contact Glenn Rolf at 816-752-2194.
