Athletes compete in Class 1 Sectional 4 track meet

Gavyn Irvine glances over to find himself in first during the 300 meter hurdles. Gavyn’s time of 40.79 won the event at Sectionals. He also won the triple jump with a leap of 13.16 meters.

The East Atchison boys’ 4×200 meter relay, consisting of Shaylon McNaughton, Elliott Walker, Mason Kingery, and Gavyn Irvine, took third at Sectionals, running a 1:35.03.

The East Atchison boys’ 4×400 meter relay advanced to State in fourth with a time of 3:36.26. Mason Kingery, Elliott Walker, Shaylon McNaughton, and Gavyn Irvine made up the legs for the Wolves.

Azlynn Wiley reaches out for balance on her way to placing fourth in the triple jump at Sectionals in Mound City. Azlynn bounded 9.76 meters.

Danni Irvine vaulted her way to fourth place with a height of 2.74 meters.

Senior Tate Johnson uses some muscle while competing in the shot put at Sectionals. Tate came in fifth with a throw of 11.96 meters.

East Atchison freshman Josh Schlueter narrowly missed qualifying for State in the 110 meter hurdles. He finished in fifth at the Sectional meet in Mound City with a time of 17.17.

The East Atchison girls’ 4×200 meter relay placed fifth with a time of 1:54.95. Grace Caudill, Teagan Taylor, Brilee Slemp, and Makenna Caudill ran the legs for the Lady Wolves.

Taya Windham finished in seventh in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:42.01.

Rock Port senior Norah Watkins kicks strong in the 1600 meter run at Sectionals in Mound City. Norah continued her dominance, winning both the 1600 meter run and 3200 meter run.

Ryder Herron launches the shot put skyward. Ryder’s toss of 15.6 meters won the shot put. He also placed fifth in the discus with a throw of 39.43 meters.

Ella Meyerkorth leads the pack in the 300 meter hurdles. Ella’s time of 44.88 won the 300 meter hurdles and she took first in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.14. She also won the long jump with a distance of 5.21 meters and placed second in the javelin with a throw of 36.16 meters.

Kinley Lair qualified for State in the shot put. Her throw of 10.03 meters earned second.

Stevie Gaines advanced to State in the triple jump, taking third with a leap of 9.78 meters.

The Rock Port girls’ 4×800 meter relay, consisting of Raylynn Jenkins, Reese Herron, Norah Watkins, and Braylyn Wood took home third with a time of 10:21.78.

Rock Port freshman Reese Herron ran a 1:04.41 in the 400 meter dash on her way to fourth place.

The Lady Blue Jays’ 4×400 meter relay team advanced to State with a fourth place finish, running a 4:29.85. The legs were ran by Braylyn Wood, Norah Watkins, Talyn Amthor, and Reese Herron.

Rock Port senior Dylan Lair soars through the air while competing in the long jump at Sectionals. Dylan finished in fifth in the event with a leap of 5.76 meters. Dylan also took second in the 100 meter dash with an 11.35 on his way to qualifying for State.

Gabe Gebhards placed fifth in the javelin with a throw of 40.19 meters. He will be moving on to State in the discus, taking second with his throw of 41.16 meters, and the shot put, coming in fourth with a throw of 13.52 meters.

Landrey Kelly glides over the bar. Landrey finished in fifth in the pole vault at Sectionals, vaulting 2.74 meters.

The MSHSAA Class 1 Sectional 4 track meet was held Saturday, May 16, 2026, in Mound City, Missouri.

The Rock Port women’s team won the meet with 104 points. The East Atchison women’s team placed 11th with 20 points.

The Rock Port men’s team placed fifth with 57 points and the East Atchison men’s team placed eighth with 39 points.

The top four finishers in each event qualified to compete at the Missouri State Track and Field Championships this Friday, May 22, and Saturday, May 23, at Adkins Stadium in Jefferson City, Missouri.
