The Rock Port R-II School Board of Education held a regular meeting Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

Board President Regan Griffin called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. in the board room. Also present were: Joanna Burke, Theresa Crawford, Jared Meyerkorth, and Reven Herron, board members; Dr. Bollinger, superintendent; Mr. Parsons, high school principal; Dr. Waigand, elementary principal; Lance Lansdown, maintenance director; and Jennifer Welch, board secretary. Board members Afton Schomburg and Troy Cook were absent. Guests present were Kendall Carptenter and Betsy Larson.

Joanna Burke read the vision and mission statement.

The May 13, 2026, agenda was adopted.

Board members voted to approve the minutes from April 16, 2026.

Kendall Carpenter and Betsy Larson from the Elementary Math Committee discussed their recommendations for the Elementary Math Curriculum.

Dr. Bollinger read a thank you from Brittany Paris.

The financial consent agenda was approved. It included the transfer of funds from Fund 1 to Fund 2 in the amount of $130,816.82, the April final check register, May check register to date, activity account checks and the general ledger/Stem Grant.

The board read over the maintenance director’s report. Lance left the meeting at 7:56 p.m.

The board read over the building principals’ reports.

Dr. Bollinger gave his monthly program evaluation report on Professional Development.

Theresa Crawford gave the TABS meeting review from April 22, 2026.

Consent Agenda

The consent agenda was unanimously approved. It included approval of the following:

• 2026-2027 Tarkio Tech agreement

• MSBA membership

• 2026-2027 PDC goals (GCL)

• Preliminary budget approval

• 2026-2027 ACES agreement

• Vo-Tech Transportation Cost Sharing Agreement for 2026-2027

• 9-year Capital Expenditure Plan – second reading

• MSBA Policy Updates 4.9.2026 – second reading

New Business

Board members voted unanimously to approve the first reading of the 2026-2031 Rock Port R-II CSIP Plan.

The board set a tentative date of July 24, 2026, for the board retreat.

Board members voted to approve the 2026-2027 health insurance rates with Blue Cross as presented with each employee on the plan paying $50 per month towards premium.They also voted to approve the recommendation for the Elementary Math textbooks from IXL not to exceed $47,000.00.

There was discussion on dual credit tuition and staff appreciation.

Executive Session

The board voted at 8:59 p.m. to move to executivesession in accordance with RSMo.610.021 Sub-section (3), (13) Personnel Matters.

The meeting returned to open session at 9:08 p.m.

New Business – Personnel

Board members voted unanimously to approve the HR form as presented with the exception of Sophie Storm. The HR form included accepting the resignation of Josie Graham as a 2026/2027 concession stand sponsor. The HR form also included extending a contract to Chaney Vogler and Payten Shrader for the two open paraprofessional positions. The HR form also included hiring Desmond Chaney, Chord Christians, John Buddemeyer, Mya Welch, and Tennyson Lansdown for the open summer maintenance positions.

Board members voted 4-0 to hire Sophie Storm for an open summer maintenance position.  Theresa Crawford abstained.

Board members voted 4-0 to approve the following extra duty contracts for the 2026-2027 school year: Shawn Shineman, head high school boys’ golf; and Thomas Herron, head high school boys’ track coach and head high school girls’ track coach. Jared Meyerkorth abstained.

Board members voted unanimously to employ the following extra duty contracts for the 2026-2027 school year: Jordan Christian, assistant junior high girls’ wrestling coach; Rex Bollinger, assistant high school boys’ golf coach; Troy Cook, assistant high school boys’ golf coach and assistant high school baseball coach; Michael Brown, head high school Scholar Bowl; Chris Millsap, head high school baseball coach; Jordan Shrader, assistant high school baseball coach; Brewer Wheeler, assistant high school boys’ track coach and assistant junior high boys’ track coach; Angela Mace, assistant high school girls’ track coach; Phil Vogler, assistant high school boys’/girls’ track coach; Kory Paris, assistant high school boys’/girls’ track coach; Steve Waigand, head junior high boys’ track coach; Kelcie Gaines, head junior high girls’ track coach; Dalton Jones, assistant junior high girls’ track coach and head high school boys’ summer weightlifting coach; and Stephanie Parsons, head high school girls’ summer weightlifting coach.

Future business was discussed.
