Knox True was the first graduate of the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program through the Atchison County Library.
The Atchison County Library is proud to announce its first graduate of the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program, recognizing young reader Knox True of Rock Port for reaching this remarkable early literacy milestone.
Knox, the son of Stephanie and T.J. True, completed the challenge by reading 1,000 books before entering kindergarten. Throughout the program, Knox received collectible dog tags for every 100 books read, adding each one to his special 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten necklace as he progressed toward his goal.
To celebrate his achievement, library staff presented him with a LEGO set, a magnetic writing tablet, and several new books to enjoy as he continues his reading journey.
The 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program is a free, nationwide early literacy initiative designed to encourage parents and caregivers to read aloud to children from birth until they enter kindergarten.
The program is open to children from birth until they begin kindergarten and is designed to make reading a fun and rewarding family activity. The library encourages parents and caregivers to begin early and discover the lifelong benefits that come from sharing books and stories with young children.
