This summer, Atchison County Development Corporation (ACDC) is high-lighting the grants it offers. Here is one for the outstanding kids and teens among us.

Several years ago, in con-junction with ACDC’s workforce programs that connect students with opportunities in their county, organizers began considering how to cultivate volunteerism and leadership in our local youth. With this goal in mind, ACDC offers the #MakeACBeautiful Youth Beautification Grant program, which awards up to $500 each year to a beautification project in each of the three school district areas on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications can be submitted anytime.

Projects that are funded will be youth-led, with a group of at least three young people (ages 17 and under) with an adult sponsor to assist and guide them and will beautify areas of the community that are not on school grounds. Past projects have included flowers and landscaping, installing street planters, murals, cleaning and upgrading park equipment, and other improvements.
