One of the newest beverage stops now available in Atchison County is Little Sips Co., owned and operated by Shelby and Garrett Alsup of Tarkio and their children. The business venture began as a simple summer project to keep the kids busy while teaching them valuable life skills. Shelby stated that they wanted them to learn how to count money, interact with customers, work hard, and experience what it’s like to earn something through dedication. What began as a small lemonade stand quickly turned into a family business that has grown far beyond what was expected.

Today, Little Sips Co. is run by everyone in the family, with the kids helping every step of the way. They serve fresh-squeezed lemonade and limeade in a variety of fun flavors, along with exciting add-ons like candy toppers and glow coasters. Shelby remarked, “We love creating a fun experience for our customers while giving our kids hands-on lessons in responsibility, teamwork, and entrepreneurship. You’ll usually find us set up at local community events, festivals, rodeos, and small-town celebrations throughout Northwest Missouri. We also announce pop-up locations and events on our Facebook page, making it easy for customers to see where we’ll be next. The support from our community has been overwhelming and we’re so grateful for every customer who has stopped by to support our family’s dream.
