The City of Fairfax Board of Aldermen held a regular meeting July 14, 2026. The meeting was called to order by Tabitha Wintz, mayor, at 5:38 pm. Roll was taken. Also in attendance were: Ashley Grossman, Ryan Kingery, and Stephanie Stevens, aldermen; Christy Stevens, city clerk; Terry Miller, city treasurer; Mike Lewis, public works superintendent; and John Brown, temporary city employee.

The aldermen voted to approve the tentative agenda, the regular minutes of June 22, 2026, and accounts payable.

New Business

Christy Stevens, city clerk, presented the six month budget review to the council. After some discussion it was decided to not have a clean-up day before the fair this year. The the six month budget review was approved.

There have been some concerns with speeding around town. The speed limit is 20 mph except where it is posted. The council discussed different options and eventually tabled the topic for another time.

The fire grant minutes taken on Friday, July 10, were presented to the council for review. The minutes were approved.

A deck plan was presented to the council for approval. After review the plans were approved.

Staff Reports

Terry Miller, city treasurer, reported that all accounts are in balance. A CD matured and she will get rates for a 12 month CD. The aldermen voted unanimously to approve a 12 month CD if the rates are better than the lower months.

Mike Lewis, public works superintendent, reported that they successfully flushed out the hydrants around town. New asphalt was put down on North Sly and Green Street. The guys have been doing a lot of spraying and just started their water classes this week.
