The Tarkio/Westboro/Fairfax Food Pantry board met Tuesday, July 14, 2026, with 14 members present. Churches represented at the meeting were: Fairfax – Baptist, Christian, Methodist, and Presbyterian; Tarkio – Catholic, Christian, Church of God, and Good News; and Westboro – Methodist and St. John’s Lutheran.
In May, 46 families were served representing 114 individuals. In June, 50 families representing 123 individuals were assisted.
Tarkio Presbyterian Church will open the pantry in August. The food pantry board will staff the pantry in September. The food pantry will be open Thursday, July 30, 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. The food pantry is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. the third and fourth weeks of each month. The pantry is also open the third Tuesday from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Volunteers to help open the food pantry are always appreciated as it takes many workers to keep this important mission to our communities open. The next board meeting will be September 8 at 9:30 a.m. at the food pantry.
The food pantry is currently low on the following items: apple juice (64 oz.), saltine crackers, cake mixes (chocolate or white), sugar (5 lbs.), boxed macaroni and cheese, vegetables (15 oz. – canned potatoes, cut green beans, French style green beans, mixed vegetables, whole kernel corn, cream style corn, peas, carrots, kraut), beef or chicken pot pies, and toilet paper.
Donations to the food pantry, especially monetary donations, are always appreciated. Donations may be sent to Anita Sutter, treasurer, at 26287 290th Street, Fairfax, MO 64446.
The pantry is located at 315 Main Street in Tarkio.
