Students at Tarkio R-I registered for school this past week. Tarkio junior high and high school students visited the school Tuesday morning, August 11, 2026, to sign up for classes, pick up important paperwork, and pay fees. Leslie Rose and her mother, Brittany Corbin, are pictured signing Leslie up for her seventh grade year with the help of superintendent secretary Lanette Hogue.

Tarkio R-I Open House
Tarkio R-I will hold an open house Thursday, August 20, for Tarkio R-I students. The elementary open house will be held from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. (food will be provided). Sixth grade orientation will be held from 5:00 to 5:30 p.m. at the high school and the high school open house will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Rock Port R-II Welcome Back-to-School Picnic
Rock Port R-II students and families are invited to a Welcome Back-to-School Picnic sponsored by Midwest Data Center. It will be held Friday, August 21, from 5:00 to 6:15 p.m. in the school cafeteria (hamburgers and hot dogs will be served). Meet Your Teacher Night will also take place that night. Elementary students (K-5) may meet their teachers from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. and leave school supplies in their classroom. An orientation for sixth and seventh graders and new students will be held in the south gym from 6:15 to 7:00 p.m. that night.
Back-To-School Open House and Carnival at Fairfax R-3
The Fairfax R-3 School will have a Back-To-School Open House and Carnival Tuesday, August 25, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.
The evening will begin with a brief welcome and back-to-school meeting led by Mrs. Barbara Terry, principal. Following the meeting, families are invited to visit classrooms, meet teachers, and drop off school supplies.
This will also be an opportunity for junior high and high school students to pick up class schedules, receive locker assignments, drop off school supplies, and meet teachers.
The school is adding a Back-To-School Carnival to the open house celebration this year. Families can enjoy games, popcorn, and free Kool Kats. A balloon artist will create fun balloon animals for the kids.
A brief PTO meeting will also be held to share upcoming events and ways families can get involved this year.
