Presiding Commissioner Livengood opened the public hearing at 9:00 a.m. to set the 2026 levy rates for Atchison County General Revenue Fund, Atchison County Road and Bridge Fund, Special Road and Bridge, Atchison County Senate Bill 40, Atchison County Senior Citizens Services, and Solid Waste Landfill.
There were no citizens present for the hearing.
Atchison County Clerk Susette Taylor presented the rates for approval. They were:
• Atchison County General Revenue Fund. The commissioners voted to approve the state-approved rate of .4928.
• Atchison County Road & Bridge Fund. The commissioners voted to approve the state-approved rate of .4928.
• Atchison County Senate Bill 40. The commissioners voted to approve the state-approved rate of .0986.
• Atchison County Senior Services. The commissioners voted to approve the state approved rate of .0492.

• Atchison County Solid Waste Landfill. The state approved levy for the Solid Waste Landfill was .0000 due to prior voluntary rollbacks. Again, this year, no additional revenue is needed to operate the landfill so the commissioners voted to approve the state approved rate of .0000.
There were no increases from the prior year.
There being no further rates to be presented at the public hearing, the commissioners voted to close the hearing and reopen the regular session.
Due to continued increased costs of insurance premiums, the county will be looking into additional options for property and liability coverage for 2027.
There being no further business, the commission adjourned.
