The Atchison County Commission met Thursday, August 13, 2026. Present at the meeting were: Curtis Livengood, Presiding Commissioner; Richard Burke, South District Commissioner; and Okema Galston, Administrative Assistant of the Commission. Jim Quimby, North District Commissioner, was absent. Susette Taylor, Clerk of the Commission, was attending the directors meeting for the MAC Trust Board and the Missouri Association of Counties annual board meeting.

Presiding Commissioner Livengood called the meeting to order.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

Bills were reviewed and approved for payment.

Month-end department reports were reviewed and approved.

Kenny Wallace, Road and Bridge Supervisor, came in to discuss department matters as well as to present quotes to possibly purchase two road rake attachments and trade the 8-foot road groom for another 11-foot road groom. Supervisor Wallace was joined by George Stewart with Murphy Tractor. Mr. Stewart presented a quote for a 672 P-Tier motor grader with 6WD and a Walk-N-Roll WR90-Series 3 walk and roll packer compacter. The discussion was to trade the 2021 John Deere 672G. This discussion was about next year’s budget.

Jim Crawford with University Extension stopped in to give updates and extend an invitation to the Field Day fish fry which will be held August 24.  Field Day will be August 25 and Youth Day will be on September 8.
