Fall Homecoming at Rock Port High School is this week. The homecoming royalty candidates are: queen – Lily Wilroy, Claire Miller, and Tatum Vogler; and king – Gabe Gebhards, Jack Meyerkorth, and Brock Sebek-Holmes.

Rock Port High School will celebrate its fall homecoming this week. The theme is “Celebrating America’s 250th.”

This year’s king candidates are Gabe Gebhards, Jack Meyerkorth, and Brock Sebek-Holmes and queen candidates are Tatum Vogler, Lily Wilroy, and Claire Miller. Attendants are: 6th graders – Markie Gaines and Louie Leseberg; 7th graders – Raelynn Stoner and Frank Kroeger; 8th graders – Ali Ellis and Anthony Masonbrink; freshmen – Harper Wood and Briar Daugherty; sophomores – Maddie Wilroy and Rush Lewis; and juniors – Braylyn Wood and Reid Ellis.

Each class has been given a decade to commemorate: seniors – 1980s; juniors – 1970s; sophomores – 1990s; freshmen – 2000s; 8th graders – 1960s; 7th graders – 2010s; and 6th graders – 2040s. From Tuesday through Friday, the students will participate in a number of fun activities, including:

Dress-Up Days – Tuesday, Proud To Be An American (patriotic attire); Wednesday, Make America Famous Again (dress as a famous American); Thursday, Throwback (dress as your American decade); and Friday, Blue Jay Pride (Blue Jay attire).

Events – Peach Fuzz Volleyball Wednesday, September 9, at 7 p.m. in the high school gym (Admission: Please bring a non-perishable food item or cash donation for the local food pantry. This is the entry fee for everyone wishing to participate or spectate); Bonfire following the volleyball games Thursday, September 10, on the elementary playground; Parade and Pep Assembly at 2:30 p.m. and 2:40 p.m. Friday, September 11, on Main Street and in front of Bank Midwest and the Atchison County Mail; and Dance in the RPHS commons following the homecoming football game and coronation ceremony Friday, September 11 (the jr. high will dance until 10:15 p.m. and the high school will dance until 11:15 p.m.).

Games – JH/JV/V Volleyball vs. Union Star, beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, in the high school gym, and vs. East Atchison at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, September 10, in the gym; and Football vs. East Atchison at Blue Jay Stadium at 7 p.m. Friday, September 11

Coronation – The homecoming king and queen will be crowned following the football game on Friday, September 11.
