Leadership Northwest Missouri is now accepting applications for its 2027 class, offering emerging and established leaders the opportunity to connect, grow and gain a deeper understanding of the region they call home.

The seven-month program requires just eight days of participants’ time, but the relationships, experiences and leadership skills gained often last far beyond graduation. Applications are due November 1, 2026.

Leadership Northwest Missouri goes beyond a traditional leadership seminar. Participants travel throughout the 19-county region, learning firsthand about the opportunities and challenges facing Northwest Missouri while developing practical leadership skills and building a strong network of connections across communities and industries. Recent participants say those relationships are among the most valuable parts of the experience.

“When I started this journey, I expected to learn about leadership. What I didn’t expect was to gain a network of incredible people who challenged me to think bigger, lead better, and believe more deeply in the impact one person can make. This organization has strengthened me personally by building lifelong friendships, encouraging me through challenges, and reminding me that growth happens when you’re willing to be uncomfortable. Professionally, it’s given me new perspectives, greater confidence, and a renewed passion for serving my community and leading with purpose,” said Rachel Peter, Nodaway County.

“Leadership Northwest Missouri is an outstanding program for individuals seeking to develop leadership skills while giving back to their communities in meaningful ways. As a participant, I got to experience the diverse communities and economies that drive Northwest Missouri, and it has given me valuable insight and practical tools to improve my local area. Honestly, one of the biggest benefits is the relationships built during the course, and I know those will last long after the program ends,” remarked Mike Hill, DeKalb County.

The 2027 class will begin with a two-day retreat at Conception Abbey on January 20 and 21, led by Tim Crowley, Ph.D., a national speaker on personal and professional development. Day-long monthly classes will follow in communities throughout Leadership Northwest Missouri’s 19-county region: Andrew, Atchison, Buchanan, Caldwell, Carroll, Clay, Clinton, Daviess, DeKalb, Gentry, Grundy, Harrison, Holt, Linn, Livingston, Mercer, Nodaway, Sullivan and Worth counties. Graduation is scheduled for July 15, 2027. Throughout the program, participants strengthen leadership, communication and motivational skills; take part in hands-on team-building experiences; learn about issues affecting Northwest Missouri; and build relationships with leaders from across the region. Class size is limited to ensure an engaging and meaningful experience. The deadline to apply is November 1, 2026.
