• Believe it or not! There are some persons who state that they saw a few snowflakes fall in Rock Port Monday evening when the temperature was rather low but not at the freezing point. The flakes melted as soon as they struck the ground.
• The Rock Port Blue Jays lost to Auburn 7-36. Rock Port’s next game and the first at home will be against Hamburg.
• The Rock Port and Langdon Lutheran Churches will have as a special speaker at Sunday’s services Dr. Alfred Young from Tabitha Home in Lincoln, Nebraska.
• Theodore “Ted” Shaw recently graduated from the aviation machinist’s mate school at the U.S. Naval Technical Training Center in Memphis, Tennessee.

• Showing at the Paramount Theatre in Rock Port: “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest” and “The Bad News Bears.”
• The Chamber of Commerce auction to raise money for the Rock Port tennis courts added about $1,000 to the fund.
• A fire raged through Bud Husing’s repair shop at Husing’s Texaco Station. About $12,000 in damages were done.
• Stanton Drive, a street in Rock Port, caved in about 8:30 p.m. September 24 leaving an open hole about 25 feet long and eight feet wide and five feet deep. The street was undermined by erosion. Tom Morgan was driving over the street when it caved in. He thought he hit a pothole and he felt something hit the gas tank. He drove to the gas station and discovered his gas tank was leaking. He drove back the way he came and discovered the hole, which he said was big enough to swallow a car. So far, 40 tons of dirt have been used to fill the hole.

• Old Fashioned Saturday Night was held in Rock Port Saturday, September 22. Some of the results include: scarecrow winner – Patsy Finnell; $100 bill recipient – Kenny Lee, Jr.; Cabin Fever’s sunflower table and chair – Bev Christians; wreath – Dr. Gary Powell; and scooter – Katie Howell.
• A longtime dream for members of the First Christian Church in Rock Port became a reality this week when a steeple was placed atop the church. The steeple will soon be illuminated and it is built to withstand high winds.
• The Rock Port High School FCCLA Chapter is getting involved in Meals on Wheels. Pairs of FCCLA members will be taking turns during the school year to deliver meals to 12 to 14 senior citizens on every other Wednesday. Chairpersons Jessica Graybill and Mallory Taylor are organizing this as part of their STAR Events project.
• McDonald’s in Rock Port recently drew for the NASCAR tickets that they had been given for a drawing. The winners were Jerry and Traci Martin. The race will be September 29 at the new Kansas City Raceway.
• Rock Port R-II has a new foreign exchange student. Patricia Anne “Trizha” Dimayuga came from Tanauan City, Batangas, Philippines.
